πΒ Barcelona Yoga Conference
My love affair with Barcelona started here! Set in a school/college campus, the buildings turn into a hub of activity, buzzing with yogis enjoying classes, music and food. As a yoga teacher, I love to come here and see what the local community is getting up to – Plus, it features many regular international teachers and kirtan artists each year. It may be a big event on the health calendar in Spain, but it still feels like a close-knit community. Even if you don’t book a ticket, you are able to explore the BYC village (full of stalls and food), sit in the green spaces, relax in the kirtan area (playing music all day long) and try out the early morning Sadhana sessions.

Β πΒ BioCultura Barcelona
This event happens across different cities in Spain and showcases many of the best Spanish and international companies in the organic health industry. Although this is set to be an event for organic products and food, you will also see many stalls related to other health areas – like yoga schools, therapies/therapists and eco-friendly products. What I love most about this event is that although it has more of a “business-like” feel to it, you still won’t get too overwhelmed by everything. Up in the hills of Monjuic, the event location is also perfect for a day out – Don’t forget to walk around the nearby parks and try plenty of free delicious organic food samples!

πΒ Feria Vegana Barcelona
Get to know your local vegan family in Barcelona. In comparison to the first 2 events, this is much more smaller – but does not lack any character! I love this fair because it brings together the local community of vegan-loving vendors and foodies. Being vegan is very much a lifestyle choice… Now, more than ever, it’s easier to explore and see why it can easily be part of anyone’s life. This is a monthly event too, so you can always come and catch up with friends here.

πΒ Expo Miner BCN
All that glitters, tap into the Earth here. This expo reminds me of a bigΒ Aladdin’sΒ cave… you will find all kinds of beautiful gems from the Earth. The vendors come from many different parts of the world to share, meet and network. Personally, I am a gem stone addict so this event always allows me the space and time to look around, find out more and maybe even get a good deal on something I love.

πΒ Kirtan Barcelona
Kirtan sessions always leave us feeling uplifted and inspired. Through yoga music and mantras, we can all tap into the wonderful science behind sound – And you don’t need to be a singer for this. Kirtan sessions normally involve a band or artist playing, singing the mantras and everyone else following along, no need to know all the words! As Barcelona is known for its creative energy, you will also find that the kirtan events are very diverse and full of energy. I wanted to include this Facebook group as a portal to explore many events and try them out for your Self!

πΒ Barcelona Yoga Day
International Yoga Day is every year in June… Celebrate it in Barcelona! Being a yoga teacher can sometimes mean that we are doing “our own thing” for most of the year as a freelancer… This event is the perfect excuse to offer and share with other teachers and students. During this day, many yoga studios also get included with open doors and free taster classes. It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or have been doing yoga for years, there is always something new to discover here.

πΒ HOLI Barcelona
This is one of the most colourful events in Barcelona! Holi is one of the most important festivals of the Hindu calendar that is characterized by its festive atmosphere. This Festival leaves aside the differences of class, caste or origin (we all become “colors”) and it becomes a joyful and carefree celebration. Join in the “war of colours” as different colours of powder are thrown to the crowds in a playful war.Β

A fairly new event that is still evolving. This reminds me of what many health festivals start of as… it just has this intimate feeling to it. This was the first thing that came to my mind about this event. I hope that it return soon for another edition!

πΒ Fira Per La Terra
Earth Day celebrations – This event reminds me of the start of Spring. This outdoor festival takes place in a park in Barcelona, it may change each year. Previously, it was held in the centrally located park ofΒ Parc de la Ciutadella. This year (2018), it moved up towards Nou Barris and still brought in a lot of fun and connection. Between the drumming and the stalls of food and health related stalls, there is plenty of space to sit on the grass and relax.

πΒ Badaterra
A train-ride away from Barcelona, you can explore a different town – Badalona. Many people forget how close Badalona is – It is a much more relaxed town, mainly residential and reachable by metro. It feels more like a town than a city. This Earth festival is perfect for taking the day trip out to explore what Badalona has to offer, relax by the beach and enjoy this event. πΒ Feria de Sant PonΓ§
A traditional healing celebration. Since the Middle Ages Barcelona celebrates this fair dedicated to medicinal herbs (On the day of San Ponce, May 11). Currently, the positions of herbalists and artisans are lined up in Hospital Street (the Raval neighborhood). You will find honey, dried sweet fruit, jam, cottage cheese, artisan cheese, medicinal herbs and more products related to food and health. The fair is organized in the month of May because it is the time of flowering and maximum splendor of most medicinal herbs. Activities are organized by the Unió de Sant Ponç. On the 10th at night the image of the saint is decorated with herbs and flowers to preside over the mass that is offered to him the next day, in which he is carried in procession and the medicinal herbs brought by the assistants are blessed.

πΒ BCN Honey Fest
Honey lovers will absolutely love this event! Not only does it bring together local bee keepers, it also reminds us of important issues like the importance of bees in our natural system. Last year, it was held in the centralΒ Parc de la Ciutadella, with music and a seating area to taste the honey products and buy a drink.

πΒ Mercat BORN Gourmet
This outdoor festival is where I pass by as a starting point to my day out with friends.Β This weekend event takes place with a range of stalls and stands serving up a tempting variety of local food. From top quality cured meats and fresh fish from Barceloneta, to artisan preserves and organic vegetables, there will be something for every craving.
